Workshop News: April & Beyond
Workshops at Shake Rag Alley are the perfect mix of learning, technique, and play, as is on full display in the picture above from Kristin Peterson‘s Prairie’d Primer. I was lucky to be able to visit during some of Kristin’s demonstrations, watching the manipulation of materials from fabric to cabinet cards, and using slider bags to apply paint and dyes to paper. Have you booked your weekend of creativity and frivolity yet? We have options for beginners as well as established artists who want to deepen their craft, from half-day workshops to more intensive multi-day experiences; we also offer a variety of price points. We’d love to talk with you about ways to feed the creative inside you, whether they can only come out and play for a weekend, or they’re running around all the time but want some time in Mineral Point to focus.
Speaking of focus, you won’t want to miss these upcoming opportunities with spots still available. Our Writing Retreat May 17-19 returns with Sheree L. Greer and new faculty Raki Kopernik and Matthew Guenette, as well as explorations of interactive & experimental work (register by May 6!). Returning favorite Michael deMeng offers mixed media play with Board To Be Wild and a chance to “unleash your inner child to craft the board game you always yearned for” (register by May 20). And we still have a few spots in Lorraine Reynolds’s very cool Sustainable Fashion: Introduction to Altered Apparel and Visible Mending—but not for long (register by April 29).
Can’t wait to see you! Our 20th birthday party is getting started and you don’t want to miss any of the fun,
Christina Kubasta
