Oil Pastels

Oil pastels have a soft and buttery feel. The color effects and textures are stunningly beautiful and captivating. You will learn to prepare the substrate and under painting, blend pastels to create 3-dimensional effects, and work with oil pastel to develop layering techniques. Use tools to scrape away or subtract oil pastel to reveal layers for color and textural interest, and add with various tools to build up the painting’s surface and color quality. Understand the use of line and mark making for visual interest, color theory concepts as it relates to layering, and composition, shapes, and the placement of objects. Some art experience required, either at school or as a hobby.
