Learn to rivet. Rivets are part of a large family of cold connections that join pieces together without heat. You can rivet virtually any type of material together, from paper to metal and everything in between. Rivets themselves can be large or small, basic or elaborate, invisible or highly decorative. In all cases the concept is the same and is a basic metalworking skill. We connect layers of material together, generally using round wire or tubing. The ends are enlarged to form a secure connection, all without using heat.
