Shibori Stitch Resist

This workshop will familiarize you to a creative, multicultural practice that utilizes prominently plant-based materials. The objective of this class is to introduce shibori and natural indigo blue. Shibori is a Japanese, manual, resist dyeing technique. You will use basic shibori stitching techniques and dye a cotton “sampler” and scarves. Learn the fundamentals of: mokume, or wood grain, shibori; guntai, or military shibori; and karamatsu, or Japanese larch shibori.
