Painting in Resin
Resins in art are most often seen in sculpture, such as in casting, coating, and laminating. However, when used creatively in combination with additional media, resin can be a powerful painting medium, offering depth and layering possibilities that other media cannot; resulting in spectacular works and effects. This workshop explains the basic physical properties and application techniques of two types of resin—urethane and epoxy. Demonstrations cover tinting, layering, damming, and incorporating other media. You will create both a multilayered epoxy resin painting and a urethane resin painting. Along the way, Shane provides individualized feedback and reveals techniques learned in his own practice. Optional evening hours available if needed.
