Local author Justin O’Brien will read from his book, Chicago Yippie! ’68, an account of his experiences as a 17-year old high school student who became embroiled in the anti-war marches and protests, and ultimately in the riots that ensued during the week of the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago. Discussion to follow.
Following a 42-year career in typography and advertising, with a side line in freelance writing, Justin O’Brien retired to Mineral Point to walk and write. He has written extensively about music (blues and folk), typography, baseball, and other subjects.
While some of his writing has appeared in anthologies, Chicago Yippie! ’68 is his first book.
