Winter Writers Reading Series: Krista Eastman

January 6, 2021

Schedule: Wednesday, 7-9pm via Zoom

Instructor: Krista Eastman

Registration Deadline: Jan 4 - Free Virtual Event

Krista Eastman, winner of the Council for Wisconsin Writers Norbert Blei/August Derleth Nonfiction Book Award, will read from and discuss her book The Painted Forest a collection of essays exploring the myths we make about who we are and where we’re from, by uncovering strange and little-known “home places”—not only the picturesque hills and valleys of the author’s childhood in rural Wisconsin, but also tourist towns, the “under-imagined and overly caricatured” Midwest, and a far-flung station in Antarctica where the filmmaker Werner Herzog makes an unexpected appearance.
