Enjoy a picnic lunch on the Shake Rag Alley campus surrounded by gardens and historic buildings as local musicians, The Backyard Ukes perform. Then stroll over to Alley Stage at 1 p.m. for a staged reading of Magnolia Star by playwright Jeff Pfeiffer, about con artists looking for the American dream.
There was a time in this country when the train tracks strung together a million little towns like a trail of silver dollars. Any girl worth her spit knew how to handle a shotgun, and any man with a decent set of teeth could sell you the Brooklyn Bridge. In this world, two souls band together and use their art — the art of the con — to survive.
The cast includes Kasi Greenwood, Christian Neuhaus, Judy Divido and Heather Harris from Mineral Point; Bryan Royston and Paul Lorentz from Madison.
Approximately 90 min. One intermission. Note: Adult themes and language.
