Let’s create luscious, layered mixed media portraits but with a little twist. In this class, we’ll combine floral still life with portraiture with various mixed media materials, tools, and techniques. I’ll show you how I like to create a layered portrait full of life and texture. We’ll start by creating our own mixed media collage papers and build up each layer step by step. Then we’ll build up the background using acrylic paint, oil pastels, spray inks, oil paint sticks, and more. No drawing experience necessary — I’ll show you how to draw faces with confidence and ease. This class is also great for more advanced students looking to try a new style and get out of their comfort zone a little. I like to do a little finger painting as well, so prepare to get a little bit messy! We’ll explore how to create colorful, playful florals and expressive portraits full of life and depth!
Materials fee includes a class kit full of my favorite collage papers (vintage, recycled, scrapbook, textured, etc.), a Stabilo marks-all pencil, and shared use of all materials (acrylic paint, spray ink, oil pastels, watercolor pencils, stencils, stamps, collage paper, gelli plate, brayers, brushes, and more).
