Description

In order to continue the crucial conversations that began during our 2020 NEA Big Read of Claudia Rankine’s award-winning “Citizen: An American Lyric,” Shake Rag Alley is hosting a monthly antiracism book club.

Join us via Zoom to discuss A Peculiar Indifference: The Neglected Toll of Violence on Black America, by Elliot Currie.

Pulitizer Prize finalist Elliott Currie offers a devastating exploration of the extreme levels of violence afflicting Black communities, and a blueprint for addressing the crisis. Compelling and accessible, A Peculiar Indifference draws on a rich array of both classic and contemporary research on the dimensions and consequences of this enduring emergency.
