Antiracism Book Club - The Undocumented Americans

June 17, 2021

Schedule: 6-7:30 pm Thu

Instructor: New Members Always Welcome

Registration Deadline: June 16

Description

In order to continue the crucial conversations that began during our 2020 NEA Big Read of Claudia Rankine’s award-winning “Citizen: An American Lyric,” Shake Rag Alley is hosting a monthly antiracism book club.

Join us via Zoom to discuss The Undocumented Americans, by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio.

Karla Cornejo Villavicencio was on DACA when she decided to write The Undocumented Americans, a story she’d tried to steer clear of had become the only one she wanted to tell. So she wrote her immigration lawyer’s phone number on her hand in Sharpie and embarked on a trip across the country to tell the stories of her fellow undocumented immigrants—and to find the hidden key to her own.
