A06-Log Cabin Planter

July 8, 2021

Schedule: 1-5 pm Thu

Instructor: Dick Anderson

Registration Deadline: Jun 28

Only 1 Spot Left!

Description

Learn how the pioneers who came to this country built their first permanent shelters – hewing logs from the land into timbers and cutting half dovetail joints to make a sound log cabin that would become their home. Study the details of log cabins here on the grounds of Shake Rag Alley. You can have the experience using those hand tools and gain an appreciation and understanding for the skill and work that went into cabin construction. Have some serious fun while making a planter to take home and remind you of the techniques the pioneers used to build real log cabins. Materials and tools will be provided.

Having often taken the path less traveled has made all the difference and led him from building timber-framed covered bridges and log cabins to chainsaw wood carving, shoe making, and welded yard art, to name a few. Dick believes learning should be serious fun. “Believe me when I say, crossing a bridge in your future will be a bit easier after you have built one or two.”
