In this class you will choose from a variety of Washi papers or small print fabrics to make egg gourd ornaments. The best Washi paper is handmade by a few remaining artisan families in Japan. It is made from the mulberry plant and is more flexible and “forgiving” than regular bond paper. These egg ornaments can be used to decorate all year long—for any season.

For 38 years I worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District as their graphic artist before retiring. Prior to that I worked in 2 different ad agencies in Madison. I have been enjoying creating fun and out of the norm gourd projects for 20 years originally joining the Wis. Gourd Society in 2005. Through that, I was the co-editor for the gourd quarterly newsletter until WGS ended in 2020. My gourd art has been in the Monroe Art Gallery, Middleton Public Library, The Madison Civic Center and currently is with 2 art galleries and a retail store. I have taught a variety of gourd classes throughout Wisconsin and attend gourd workshops myself including out of state gourd workshops and festivals. There is so much more to still be experienced. It is a unique art form available to everyone and anyone.

Add the $125 Woodlanders Day Fee for Saturday (or $65 Half-Day Fee) to your cart, then select as many Saturday workshops as you wish, ensuring that your choices don’t overlap times. Materials fees listed at the end of each workshop description will be added to the shopping cart as you make your selections.
Day fees include: your choice of workshops, lunch, snacks, beverages, and evening activities. Thursday and Sunday registrants are welcome to attend evening events on Friday or Saturday.
Half-day fees include: your choice of morning/afternoon workshops, am/pm snacks, and beverages. Does NOT include lunch, which can be purchased separately.
