Put your unique spin on a centuries’ old tradition of embroidery on flour sack towels. You will gather leaves from the beautiful flowers and trees on the Shake Rag campus. We will then pin those to the towel in the design desired by the maker. This will become the outline for drawing the pattern onto the towel in water soluble ink. The final step will be stitching on the outlines. Zann will provide stitch diagrams and guidance on stitch choices to finish the leaves. Materials fee includes: Flour sack towels, green and brown embroidery floss, transfer pens, pins to hold leaves, embroidery stitch diagrams, and needles

Student Supply List Please bring small scissors. and your own color(s) of embroidery floss if you wish to use something other than green and brown. OPTIONAL: Bring a 10-inch embroidery hoop.
As one of the founding members of the Mississippi River Sampler Guild and later a member of the Textile Artists of Greater Yellowstone, Zann Liljegren has been creating and teaching hand embroidery of all kinds for 30 years. Working with antique samplers also allowed her to learn textile preservation. She has previously taught Sashiko for Shake Rag as well as how to use the simple running stitch to create small, beautiful works of art. She is a retired psychotherapist and adds those skills to helping students move through their creative blocks. This year she is branching out into traditional rug hooking.
Workshops
Add the $125 Woodlanders Day Fee for Thursday (or $65 Half-Day Fee) to your cart, then select as many Thursday workshops as you wish, ensuring that your choices don’t overlap times. Materials fees listed at the end of each workshop description will be added to the shopping cart as you make your selections.
Day fees include: your choice of workshops, lunch, snacks, beverages, and evening activities. Thursday and Sunday registrants are welcome to attend evening events on Friday or Saturday.
Half-day fees include: your choice of morning/afternoon workshops, am/pm snacks, and beverages. Does NOT include lunch, which can be purchased separately.
