Do you stop and pick up interesting rocks and wish you knew a way to display them artistically? This workshop introduces the craft of decorative wrapping of rocks (mostly hand sized or smaller) with fibers such as twine, leather, cotton or wool thread or yarn, cane and wire to enhance their beauty or call attention to their quirky shapes or colors. Experiment with binding and knotting fibers, adding beads or other embellishments. Materials fee includes fibers and embellishments (beads, buttons), rocks, glue.

I am retired environmental mediator living in Alexandria VA. I’ve collected pretty or unusual rocks from places as diverse as the parking lot cracks at her nearest Starbucks to river edges in New Zealand and beaches in the Caribbean. I found found the craft of wrapping rocks with interesting fibers in a workshop at my favorite creative crafting store and now evaluate interesting rocks as potential for decorative wrapping. While I am not an expert, over the years i have taught origami, macrame and other crafts to kids, fellow employees, and friends.

Day fees include: your choice of workshops, lunch, snacks, beverages, and evening activities. Thursday and Sunday registrants are welcome to attend evening events on Friday or Saturday.
Half-day fees include: your choice of morning/afternoon workshops, am/pm snacks, and beverages. Does NOT include lunch, which can be purchased separately.
