Explore a variety of possibilities using slow drying acrylics, stencil and gel plate. We will begin the session warming up and creating prints using techniques like wiping, stenciling, stamping and more while learning about color combinations. Learn monotype processes where we print layers one color at a time for dreamy dimensional effect. We will spend the last part of the class creating an impressionistic painterly work using the gel plate as a transparency. You will be able to use the gel prints you made from the first part of class to collage into your painting. No previous experience of any kind is needed for any component of this workshop. It is success oriented for all levels. Materials Fee includes: 8 x 10 Gelli Arts gel plate, white and black print paper, 8 x 10 Ampersand Gessobord, reference images, and use of Golden Open acrylics, SilverBrush Silversilk 88 set of brushes, TCW stencils, texture combs, brayers, water cups, palettes, and painters tape.

Micah Goguen grew up in Central Georgia and obtained his Bachelors in Art and Art History and his Masters in Art Therapy from Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. Residing currently in Macon, Ga., Micah focuses primarily on bringing art to the community and using art as a form of communication for those struggling to understand and cope with life situations. Goguen is a Certified GOLDEN Working Artist, SilverBrush Educator and an Ampersand Artist Ambassador.
Micah’s own artwork conveys his interest in the world around him as he captures moments using expressionistic and impressionistic works. Goguen strives to use imagery loosely from the daily encounters of his life and travels. Focusing on ideals of color and design, he seeks to paint “the spirit of” or “the idea of” a person, place or thing that stands out or has meaning in his life. Micah works in a range of media and teaches introductory workshops in a variety of media as well as workshop modules using combined media. Goguen teaches students atelier style in weekly classes in the Middle Georgia Area. The overall vision is to focus and rededicate back to a buy local, shop local mentality that strengthens community through unity and purpose.
Goguen utilizes his Art Therapy in groups or clusters often offered in series. Different from the technique based classes, these specialty courses have included themes such as grief, reintegration, identity, purpose, boundaries, depression and isolation. Goguen believes just like the traditional art classes, there is value and power in the group experience. These clusters focus on the curative factors of Installation of Hope, Recapitulation of Family Unit and Universality.

Class Confirmation
You will receive a confirmation of your workshop registration via email about a week prior to the class. If you do not have an email address, you will receive a snail-mail confirmation. Please check the online class listing for supplies to bring to class (there will also be a link to the Supply List in your class confirmation). Some supplies may need to be ordered well ahead of time.

Materials Fees
Many classes have materials fees in addition to the tuition. These are identified in the class listing and are usually paid with the tuition payment; however, in some cases materials fees are paid directly to the instructor at class time (check the class listing).
Cancellation Policy
While we recognize that life intrudes and plans change, in consideration of the time and energy instructors invest in preparing for classes, we must adhere to the following cancellation policies:
Student cancellations
> Cancellations made 30 days or more before the start date of the workshop are eligible for a 75% refund OR a gift certificate in the full amount. The gift certificate can be applied to workshops or lodging one year from the date of cancellation and is transferable.
> Cancellations made 29 days or fewer before the start date of the workshop are not eligible for refunds or gift certificates. We encourage all students to purchase trip insurance, which is available for a reasonable fee.
> Cancellation requests must be made by contacting our office at info@shakeragalley.org or (608) 987-3292.
> If you have booked lodging with Shake Rag Alley in conjunction with your class and cancel less than seven days in advance of your reservation, a $50 cancellation fee will apply.
Cancellations by Shake Rag Alley
> If Shake Rag Alley must cancel a class for any reason, you will be notified via email or phone and will be eligible for a full refund or, if you prefer, a transferable gift certificate. You may also consider donating your refund to support our operations or scholarships.
If you have booked lodging with Shake Rag Alley in conjunction with a class canceled by Shake Rag Alley, you may receive a full refund on lodging or gift certificate should you wish to cancel.
