In this two-day workshop, we will explore my unconventional, and signature, approach to prong setting, using unusual techniques to grasp a stone (or two or three) for a dramatic necklace. We will incorporate silver organic elements for texture and intrigue, experiment with simple hinges to add movement, and discuss the importance of making your own chain and findings, while learning those options. Be prepared to experiment. To tell stories. To laugh at my silly jokes. Be prepared to play with fire! You should be able to walk away with at least one finished statement piece to flaunt for your friends. For the advanced beginner / intermediate metalsmith. Prior experience with a torch is highly recommended.
Materials fee includes one cab (if you wish to go with a multiple stone piece, I will have other stones for purchase, or bring your own), assorted silver wire, knife edge pumice wheel with mandrel, sanding discs with mandrel, 3M polishing paper, bronze bitlets, and more.
