Natural Selection: Lost & Found in the Forest

After journeying out into the natural world to find inspiration and materials, we will return to the studio to create sculptures based on our explorations. Have a sketch book, photographs or visual material to use as references. Bring just about anything you want to use to build your sculpture. What a great chance to use that old metal, wood, and lost and found stuff accumulated over the years! We will be on the hunt for junk and odds and ends on our adventures.

Using unusual techniques I developed to overcome construction challenges, you will complete a variety of pieces. Perfect for beginners seeking an introduction to creating curious objects as well as intermediate and advanced students wishing to break out of their comfort zone. Use hand tools, basic woodworking, wood carving, and unusual construction techniques with mixed media to find a new approach to creative practice while expanding your visual vocabulary.
