Driftless Poets Open Mic
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Driftless Poets Workshop invites you to fall in love with poetry by enjoying an exhibit of members’ work and joining them for an open mic night at Cafe 43, 43 High St., Mineral Point.
Since January 2019, Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts has hosted the free monthly Driftless Poets workshop for local and aspiring poets. Members take turns leading the workshops, which provide a forum for poets to share their work and to learn from one another by listening carefully to feedback. New members are always welcome, but only those who have submitted work prior to the workshop will receive feedback and critique.
A dozen members contributed poems to an exhibit featured through Feb. 13 at Cafe 43, 43 High St. in Mineral Point. Participating poets are Kevin Clougherty, Kate Franzmann, Doug Hansmann, Gary Jones, Susan Krause, Marilee Mulligan, Justin O’Brien, Lyric Ozburn, Nancy Schmalz, David Southward, Jacquelyn Thomas and Etienne White.
At 7-9 p.m. Feb. 13, the Driftless Poets will host an open mic night at Cafe 43. The public is invited to sign up to share five minutes of poetry or prose, or to just come and listen. Refreshments will be available to purchase from the cafe.
